Hi, I’m Vanessa.

I’m an inquisitive creator and love making things, both digitally and by hand.

I have built a wide range of experience over the years by saying yes to new challenges that have taken me out of my comfort zone.

I am a full time video editor in a marketing agency but have plenty of side projects on the go in my spare time. It’s in the side projects that I find time to explore and have fun creating new things. :)

My Story

I’ve always had creativity and film as the backbone of my career. I did a media production degree at uni with a specialism in editing and got my first job at a production studio hiring out equipment and instructing people on how to use cameras and editing software.

This led to a route of teaching where I worked with young people in deprived areas engaging them with filmmaking to develop their skills and get them to the next step of their journey. I went on to teach various multimedia youth programs but contracts were never permanent so I looked at getting back into a technical role.

I started as an audio visual technician at a cinema setting up for events and festivals and running 35mm films. During this time I also worked at the cinema tent at Glastonbury with its own very unique set ups in a field! As the industry changed and film screenings became automated, I looked around to see what I could get involved with that was more creative.

I got a job in the marketing department within the same cinema and saw a creative opportunity to take on graphic design and video work and mould the role to my strengths. I built up a graphic design portfolio and successfully applied for a job as Marketing and Graphic Design Officer within the marketing department at a College. I then did graphic design for 9 years, incorporating my video and motion skills where necessary. Missing motion, I then went back to my roots and became a video editor which is where I am now.

My Philosophy

Expanding and growing is part of everyday life - never get too settled or take things for granted.
